I’m a giant sap and am easily sucked in by good storytelling. It happened again when I saw this video – it made me tear up in the airport.
The irony is that I first saw it while in the airport waiting for my flight to Thailand. Enjoy.
This simple, beautiful ad reminded me of a few things:
1. Every interaction matters
I forget (or ignore out of convenience) this all too often, but it is the truth. We have millions of tiny interactions each week and they all matter. Whether you are giving someone a break, helping someone in need or just paying attention, it all matters.
2. Acts of love change people
You may not see the change immediately, but it is there. And truly loving, selfless acts always change people for the better. It is so easy to dismiss mushy stuff like love and connection, but humans are starving for both. We all want someone to notice. We just want a chance. If you don’t think this is you, you are lying.
3. Doing the right thing isn’t always obvious
Sometimes the right thing goes against our instincts. Fear and ego are usually the two things that get in the way. We may not want to invest the time to figure out the real story. But when we do the right thing, we are using our hearts for what they were designed to do. In that moment, we are providing connection for someone, that same connection that we may desperately need from someone else someday.
