Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year! Please accept whichever greetings apply to you and feel free to discard the rest 🙂
This is the time of year when you’ve either made or will make resolutions for the New Year.
I’ve never been one to make resolutions because they resembled to-do lists. To me, lose 20 pounds, make more money and stop drinking, looks too much like go grocery shopping, get oil changed and pay bills.
I’m a fan of checklists for getting things done, but they don’t inspire me for something as significant as a resolution.
To me, resolutions require bigger motives or ideals behind them. So I’ve decided to approach the new year with three themes.
- Caring: sincerity, taking a true interest in people, listening better, asking better questions, responding to the needs uncovered by caring, giving gifts
- Connecting: bringing people together, matching needs, finding the right people to serve
- Guts: summoning the courage and boldness to care and give more
Fly Closer To The Sun
I participated in the first ever Icarus Session this past Wednesday night. 35+ people crammed into a room at Nighttown to share their art, listen and give encouragement. We heard so many great ideas (some of which I shared on this podcast) and I left feeling like I could accomplish anything.
