Early in my career I was extremely unhappy. I was overworked, overtired, overweight and felt out of place. It wasn’t my fault though.
The industry is bad for me. The people are ill-intentioned. They’re out to screw me. They don’t care about me. They’re wrong, I’m right.
I blamed everyone but myself.
I had one huge problem, I wasn’t taking responsibility for anything. I wasn’t leading myself, never mind anyone else.
So next time you’re tempted to think:
… he isn’t doing his job
… she isn’t motivated enough
… he is too outspoken
… she doesn’t speak up enough
… he constantly complains
… she doesn’t listen
… he is arrogant and presumptuous
… she is timid and weak
Consider asking yourself, what can I do differently?
Because, I hate to say it, it may be you.
